Artist Showcase - Marta Sheng
Marta Sheng is an aspiring young singer and songwriter from China. Inspired by modern pop artists like Rosé and Aurora, she is carving her way into the bilingual market (Chinese and English) with pop hits that show off her range, timbral flexibility, and even rap skills. Her songs are emotionally heavy with synth highlights, aimed at young adults looking for emotional weight, solid rhythmic pulses, and a true message about the highs and lows of romantic life. While working on her first demo tracks, her following goal will be to produce an EP showcasing her talents.
These songs feature Marta as the vocal artist. "Resize the Universe" was a project for my Berklee Master's course. We were given a tablature sheet and then had to make the song our own. Marta and I revamped nearly everything, and the recording was all done by me, including instrumentals. Marta put in the effort in creating the Chinese lyrics and she sang the vocals, of course. "KongJuan" is Marta's song. She came to me with an idea for it, and we reworked the melody and chords. We recorded the talents of a pianist, and Marta sang.
